FRESNO, CA  — 10/2/2023  —  Betts Spring Manufacturing, a division of Betts Company, has been a pioneer of spring-making innovation for 155 years.

Continuing that tradition, the division recently took possession of a state-of-the-art shot peening machine, perhaps the most advanced in the industry.

Swiss-designed and assembled in the Czech Republic, the impressive piece of machinery made its way via cargo ships, in several containers, from Europe through the Panama Canal to the Port of Oakland, where it was offloaded and brought to Betts HQ in Fresno, CA.

Several international contractors took three weeks to assemble the equipment, carefully readying its use.

Efficiency-wise, the new shot peener will hyper-accelerate output and efficiency for Betts Spring. For example, the same amount of production that used to take over two weeks with the old shot peening equipment will now only take three days.

Causing a virtual ripple effect throughout the production process, this turbocharged efficiency also frees up labor which can be dispersed to other areas.

“Simply put, it’s a whole new ball game,” said John Marr, Director of Operations, Betts Company. “From an industry and application standpoint, it’s a game changer.”
